Hey guys I'm headed to Hobart this week and was wondering what the backpackers scene is like? Particularly with younger people? Or would I be better off going to Alice Springs? thanks!
I'd definitely recommend Hobart over Alice Springs; Hobart is lovely with quite a bit to see and do, and plenty of backpackers go there so you should have no problem meeting people. I'd really recommend spending some time travelling around the rest of Tasmania too as it's beautiful. There isn't much in Alice Springs (I enjoyed the flying doctors museum though) and most backpackers just stay briefly there before touring the red centre and Uluru.
