Hello
Ow, that's such a pain; and total shame that you didn't store a full backup here; that means we'll only have 800x600px copies of them.
Glad that you've only lost a small portion, though. To download our 800x600 px copies of them, go to the large size photo page of the individual photos (), right-click it and select "Save Image As...", and then click the big "next" link to see the next photo, and download that, and so on for the entire batch of photos you've lost. I hope it won't be too many photos in total, since that can be quite a lot of work!
would it be the same, one at a time process, if Liamps had saved a full back-up?
'Yes', but with a direct download link for each photo, all on the same (maybe 100 per page? don't know), so a lot swifter to download them. And if it was the entire collection which was lost, rather than a small portion of it, I suspect the admins could work some behind the screens magic to make a zipfile of the whole lot available.
Hello
Unfortunately my hard drive crashed late last year and i lost the original photos from a small portion of my trip. The only copies I still have are on Travellerspoint. How do I download photos in my gallery to my laptop? Note: I did not check the "back-up" option when uploading those photos.
I hope you now have a portable hard drive & back your photos up on it & maybe two hard drives, or up to the cloud.
Steve
Thanks for the reply! Disappointing, but at least it was only one month out of 12 I failed to back-up.
Pre Internet & pre digital I lost 30 years worth of photos & the negatives.
That did not teach me. I then lost a lot of digital photos.
Now I have 2 portable hard drives as backup.
Steve
I try to keep copies of photos both locally and in the cloud to make sure! Possible places to keep copies are Dropbox and SkyDrive (soon to be renamed OneDrive) - there are others as well. If you're not a professional photographer, and the photos are personal stuff then SkyDrive should be fine - the pricing is lower than Dropbox.
I'm not sure if you can get (i.e. pay for) more than 5GB on Travellerspoint, can you?
We've sometimes given away a few extra GB as prizes for photo comps. Haven't done that recently though. I'd recommend keeping a backup on a dedicated backup service. It's a nicety to have on Travellerspoint, but if you are backing up photos in large numbers than it should be done on a dedicated backup service.
Liamps, if you have a LOT of photos to download - let me know and I'll see what I can do about zipping them up for you to make it less tedious.
Peter
