Hi, I'm Jacqui, 25 and from Manchester
It depends entirely on yourself. People who go with them (or the similar ultimate oz) tend to have a pretty good time. But it sure is a lot of money for things you can do yourself for free, and/or don't really need.
I, being pretty introverted, and about as far from the most social person as you can get, had no trouble meeting and talking with people on my own. Just hang around the lounge of the hostel you're staying in, leafing through your lonely planet and drinking a cup of tea, and before you'll know it you'll be in a conversation. Same thing for when you're cooking dinner in the kitchen. Beyond that, I think it depends on how open you are for more, but just remember that most everyone else there is in the same position.
So, personally, I'd say just do it on your own, and use that money you save to travel longer. But if you do decide to go with one of those companies, I also don't think you'll "regret" it.
Hi Jacqui,
Im flying out 28th march heading to cairns though.
doing everything by myself.
Not signing up to any of these companies. once I get there I know I need, tax file number, bank account. Oz sim and sign up to medi care.
I just think doing it myself will save me a lot of money and be more independent.
Regards,
Steven
Hi,
Im flying out to Sydney 20th June, hoping to stay there for a while and work my way up the east coast and up to Cairns. Hopefully find work along the way. I looked into them programs to on gap360, seems good but half of the stuff on there is already free and can be booked via the hostel. Only thing that interests me is the help finding a job, which will be the main thing for me to do when i arrive. Anyone got any tips for find work over there?
Dan.
