Hi Everybody,
I am travelling to australia in one week.
I am undecided about bringing my iphone 4 with me to australia.
I have recently paid off the rest of my contract and gotten it unblocked so the phone is mine.
However i have been told that you need a laptop to set up itunes on your iphone when i put in my australian sim card into my phone.
Is this the case,if not how do i set up my iphone when i get to oz.
I am not very good at technology so i am half thinking of selling
my iphone before i leave and buying an ipod touch to bring with me for my camera, skype and internet which is what i really want
when in oz.
Please help,
M
You simply by an Australian SIM card when u arrive. The store you by your SIM card from will be able to unlock your I phone it's a legal and simple procedure designed for travelers. I made the mistake of leaving my I phone and laptop behind and regretted it immidietly! Every mc Donald's in oz has free wi if and Internet data comes in bundles with a top up so my advice would be to take it!
I'd recommend taking it. Always good to have a phone with you!
Changing your SIM card won't affect the music stored on your phone.
Just load it up with the songs you want before you go and you won't need to be syncing with iTunes at all.
The only thing would be photos. You might run out of space if you never clear the photos off your phone. So maybe don't put too many songs on there, so you have some room left for other things.
Getting a SIM card in Australia is trivial. You can do it at pretty much any supermarket or convenience store.
Aw thats brill,I was soo worried that when i put in the new sim the phone would need to be connected to itunes on a computer.
Thanks for you help guys
The connecting to iTunes part is only needed for setting up the iPhone the first time (and I don't think that's even the case now anymore since iOS5 or somewhere around there) and of course moving photos/music/apps back and forth, so like the others have said, with a SIM card you are good to go! If you have a micro sim slot you might need to go into a proper phone shop rather than a convenience store, but still easy
