I'm going to Florence on Saturday and have almost 3 full days there. A couple of people have suggested taking a day trip to Siena, and although it looks gorgeous that would only leave me with 2 full days in Florence. Is this enough to cover the main sights? Is it worth sacrificing a day in Florence to see Siena? I've heard the train journey is quite picturesque too.
If it were me, I'd stay in Florence. Siena is gorgeous, but to do it justice I reckon you would need 2 days there too!!

Not really a lot in Siena but it is a very scenic city.
As to Florence, do book online the galleries there. The Uffizi gallery has horrendous queues for those who have not.
Don't forget Pisa is only a short distance away.

Thanks Cyberia. We're flying in and out of Pisa so we're planning to see (possibly climb) the tower on the way back to the airport.
