Hi there! I just stumbled upon this site, and boy am I glad!
A lot of hostels in Sydney will have job postings and message boards with useful info. Also there are a couple of backpacker magazines that can be really useful (TNT Magazine is one that comes to mind) and they are easy to find around hostels.
It depends what sort of work you're after. If you just want a bit of extra pocket money
retail/bar/restaurant work is always fairly easy to come by. Fruit picking is always a popular backpacker's choice in Oz, but I hear it's not as good as it used to be.
If you have office skills, sign up with a temp agency or two.
If you're looking for more professional work, it's not impossible on a working holiday visa, but it's more challenging since most businesses don't want to hire someone for only 6 months.
Google is also your friend. Just do a search for "backpacker jobs australia" and you'll find loads of options.
Make sure you have enough money to last you at least a month or two when you first arrive and you'll be fine. As long as you're not picky, you'll have work in no time
Thank you so much! That was all very reassuring, as I'm just in the beginning stages of mapping out me travels.
I'll definitely look into those magazines, and I'm really glad to hear they have job postings in hostels! I'm getting more and more excited!
