hi, im going travelling around australia in a couple of months for a year, i will be working as well and im really confused on whether to use a backpack or a suitcase can anyone tell me which they think is best and also reccommend where to get a decent one from? thanks
hi I'm doing the same! :-) I'm flying to Brisbane end of jan on a WHV for the year.. to be honest I would recommend a backpack it's a lot easier for you to travel about spes when travelling up or down the coast :-) i got mine the weekend from go outdoors, when do you get to oz are you going alone?
This question has come up a few times, so maybe some of will be of help!
Depends how long you plan on staying at one place of work, if your going to be moving around every few weeks then a backpack. But if your going to be working at places longer then suitcase might be more ideal.
lovely thanks and i am going on my own but am meeting a friend in melbourne and will probably be staying with her for a little while and im going in april thanks for your replys and advice
i would strongly recomend a backpack. I have found it gives me the freedom to find hidden places off roads. there the great spots as they are completely off the tourist trail. where the best cultures are found.
hitchhiking along the south coast of france, the driver told me of a nice beach i could sleep on, he dropped me of on the edge of an oakwood forest pointed at it, and drove of.
i walked through for 2 minuets and it opened up onto this white sand beach, completely deserted, a clump of trees in the middle, in which i set up my hammock.
Later on, a 30th birthday beach party appeared out of the forest and immediately welcomed me with champagne as if i was family.
as i enjoyed a musical fun filled even with a new family, a thought popped into my head,
"Im glad i brought a backpack"
If you keep moving from place to place then definitely a backpack. I backpacked all the time but lately I am more in the suitcase-mode. especially when I tend to stay longer at each single destination. You just have to make sure the suitcase itself is not too heavy in case you have to walk some stairs:-)
