I'm trying to export my blog to archive it and thought printing a PDF via the control panel was a good option - let me know if there is a better one I should consider.
I'm trialling this on my own blog right now and while it hasn't errored out (yet), it sure is slow going - I'm 5.3 MB into the download at 5kb/s or some pawltry number like that. I can imagine that it times out at this speed though after a while... This seems to be the server's output speed
Have you considered doing it in two or three batches, and then using some pdf software to merge them into one? One downside of that is that the page numbering will be wrong.
What works for me is to instead use the html printing option (that also means your maps will show in the entries), and then print the resulting page. I don't know what kind of computer you are on, but on my mac there is an option to print as PDF instead of printing to a printer, and if I choose that I get the entire blog in under 5 minutes in full colour and including the maps and videos (obviously not interactive then though). The only 'downside' is that the blog posts are continuous, ie. each new one doesn't start on a new page, but whether or not that is actually a problem is more a question of taste than anything else!
