Thailand Christmas and New Year accommodation

Hi everyone - I am a 34 year old male going to Thailand for a month over Christmas and New Year. I am wondering if I need to pre-book accommodation. I realise this is peak season but I would much rather not be tied down to one place if possible. I'm happy to pay say 2000 baht per night over Christmas and want to go to maybe Ko Lanta or the Trang Islands to start with then over to the Gulf Islands.

Christmas is no big deal in this mostly Buddhist country and I have never paid more over the Xmas period.

It does not hurt to book a few nights till you get yourself sorted out but apart from Full Moon parties and the like, there are usually quite a few rooms to spare, especially with a budget of 2,000 baht a night which should get you something luxurious in this country of cheap accommodation.

Have you tried the accommodation link at the top of the page, asiarooms and the like?

Hi cyberia thanks so much for your reply - I've looked at the link for rooms on here and they seem nice but again all booked up over Christmas ! You really think it's not an issue to just rock up?
