I stayed in Dubai with my wife for about three weeks while I was on a work assignment. If i am not mistaken, if you're from certain countries you can apply for a visa when you reach the airport. Maybe you can research along those lines. How much it will cost you really depends on where you're staying at. Lodging alone cost us a bit over 4000USD, that was about last year June. We stayed at Fraser Suites Dubai serviced apartments, which was relatively near the city center. Hope you find this information useful!
