Hey guys! Myself and a friend are planning a trip to North America, planning to leave around end of july for one month-6 weeks!
We are wondering how much spending money we would need?
Is it best to rent cars, stay in motels, hotels or camp?
States we plan on going to are New York, california, tennessee, florida, navada, louisiana, arizona, washington D.C. Does anyone have any tips on cheap aread of travelling between these areas?
Any help would be much appreciated, as this is our first time travelling! Thanks
They have hostels in major cities like NYC and LAX. I've found around 30 bucks. You can book buses from NYC to DC for prob around 30 as well. You can consider couch surfing as a means of accommodation or meeting locals. You should take into account paying for taxis and subway passes. And also the tips for taxis, bartenders, waitresses etc.
Also best luck surviving July/August on the east coast. I live in Virginia Beach. It's not a surprise to have temperatures reach 110+. And with the humidity on this coast it's worse. The ocean feels like bath water. No exaggeration. It's just not refreshing. California is much better w low humidity. But beware of it and the desert since your sweat instantly evaporates you can become dehydrated quickly.
But as for what to budget it depends on your activities. Museums, drinking, etc. You can easily blow major dollars in a weekend having a good time.
