Hey man I'm looking at flying out at the end of July or start of August not decided where or anything yet but had been looking at Perth, Brisbane and Cairns to start with and find work there for a few months before travelling more towards the end of the visa
Hey Marcd you got anything planned on the working front or that? Hoping to get some working picking fruit to get my 2nd year visa.
Nothing planned mate no just heard there are a lot of jobs out in those areas especially. Would like to do 3 months of some hard graft for a second year visa but nothing arranged, just going to see what is on offer when I'm there really.
Hey guys, I'm flying over in July as well but can't decide on where to start. Brisbane is my first choice at the moment tho and travel the Gold Coast/Cairns etc. first before heading down to Melbourne to live for a few months over the summer. But most people seem to go to Sydney or Perth first so can't decide!
I think starting in Sydney would be your best bet because there's bound to be loads of backpackers there and people to tag along with or whatever. However i guess saying that, you're gonna find people in the same boat as you wherever you go, so yeah just do whatever you want really...

I am travelling out to oz from Thailand at the end of June.
We haven't decided where to start off yet :/
We are thinking that if we start off in Sydney it's where most people start off and we will most likely meet people there to tag along with, But we would also like to start off in Brisbane/Carins where the weather is nicer and then make our way up to Sydney/Melbourne at the end of the year.
Would also like to get work while Brisbane/Cairns but have heard there is more work opportunities in Sydney/Melbourne.
It's a tough call to make.
There is most opportunities for work in Melbourne/Sydney and alot of people that do not go to Melbourne first never go as it is the wrong direction to cairns etc. BUT i love Melbourne the best so I would always suggest going there even if just for a week.
