San Fran to LA road trip early Sep 2013

Hello

As a first-time poster, I suggest the first thing you do is to review the previous threads on this trip (either going round-trip--or even going from LA to SF) and then consider taking the same route only in reverse.

For example, here's one that makes suggestions on where to go and what to see if you were going from LA to SF.

The main highlights between these two cities (SF and LA) are:

If you take the Coastal route:
Winchester Mystery House (across from Santana Row mall in San Jose)
Santa Cruz
Carmel and Monterey (and the close-by Pebble Beach area, which includes the 17 mile drive)
Route from Carmel through Big Sur down to San Onofre (Hearst Castle)
Cambria (beautiful small town with a great stretch called Moonstone Beach at the north end of town)
Paso Robles and its 170 wineries
Morro Bay
Los Olivos (wineries/horse country) and Solvang (danish town)
Santa Barbara (wharf and State Street)--best known as Oprah Winfrey's home town and home to a beautiful University of California campus
Malibu

Inland route:
Lake Tahoe
Murphy's (small interesting town)
Yosemite National Park
Kings Canyon National Park
Sequoia National Park

and once you are in the LA metro area:
Santa Monica
Venice Beach
Huntington Beach
Newport Beach
Anaheim (home to Disneyland)
Long Beach (home to the new aquarium)
Buena Park (home to Knotts Berry Farm)

Enjoy your trip

[ Correction of mall spelling (Santana Row, not Santa Row) ]

Cool that's great, thank you! I'll look in to those places!. :-)
