Hey,
(spoiler: don't bother with the company!)
As for Base: I thought they generally had an okay reputation. Somewhat expensive, and party-oriented, but very modern, and with all the facilities you could want. But yeah, looking at reviews myself (both for the Sydney branch I assume you'd stay at, and for other locations), I guess they haven't been keeping their hostels up to date, and are slowly letting them get run down. They still don't sound really bad (if certainly not to my taste), but I understand that you'd prefer something better to start out at.
So, my recommendation: Just go by yourself, ask us here on the forum if you're unsure about what exactly you need to open a bank account, get a tax file number, etc (we're more than happy to help; for free) , and pick for yourself which you feel happier about.
Great reply- ill be setting up a bank account and needing a tax number- you'll hear from me in a few months
I have also been looking at Oz Expereince, I was going to get the East Coast Bus Pass from Sydney, although its much cheaper to book direct with the Greyhound bus company direct.
The bus passes from Oz Experience don't have guides on the buses.
I would like to do something like a intro for arrival in Sydney too, I am travelling alone and would be scarey at first. You found any other companies which do a similar thing?
Im travelling to Aus mid Jan.
I've look at Ultimate Oz too, they also do arrival packages in other destenations, such as Melbourne. x
Yeah i've been looking at the Greyhound bus company. I'm leaning towards doing something like Oz Intro when I first arrive, so stay in Sydney for that first week, then booking Greyhound so that I can travel around.
Would you book the Greyhound bus tour before you go or out there? & have you booked your flights yet? x
Hey AlexandraDuarte,
Yes I am going to book the bus tour, they got a special offer at moment, if you book before September you pay winter price. I am thinking of doing the Melbourne to Cairins ticket.
But I think I will book some of the tours and hostels as I go, because Im not sure how long it takes to get from each place :/
I have arranged my flights for the 18th jan, have you booked?
Louise x
