I think in the US, New York City is also a good transportation system!! NYC has the most largest subway system in the world! Train system is best that can take you from the city to beaches, national parks, and surrounding suburbs of NJ,
San Francisco and Portland also have extensive transit networks. The others that I know about in the US are Chicago, Washington and Boston. The NYC system is very extensive, but also fairly expensive (no transfers).
As a senior in Portland, my 30 day pass costs me $26. (normal adult pass over $100.)
One you forgot in Asia is Bangkok - a fairly new airport train there. I was also impressed with the system in Seoul - also a new airport train.

I know it isn't anything compared with the likes of NYC, but I think San Diego has a pretty decent transit system. Sometimes you have to wait for a bus for awhile, but you can go just about anywhere in the city on the bus or trolly. You also only have to buy one fairly priced ticket for both bus and trolly.
