Hey guys,
Crossing land borders? Visas for Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia are available at the borders on arrival. Having done a similar trip in 2009/10, we obtained a Laos visa across the Mekong from Chiang Khong before we took the slow boat down to Luang Prabang, for Vietnam we crossed from Sam Neua to Thanh Hoa at Na Meo and for Cambodia we crossed from HCMC to Phnom Penh at Bavet - all very easy and without incident. Enjoy your trip.
It depends on your citizen and passport holding. Yes, 30 days free visa for Thailand normally giving to the tourist from Europe and American.
Anyway, some agent in Khao Sarn can take you to border (Mostly heading to Cambodia border and back) for 15 days extended free visa with half day generating.
Cross border to Cambodia (usd20)and Laos (usd30) are very easy just prepare 2 passport photo along with.
My comment below,
Take a time in Thailand as much as possible and then heading to Laos (There is a bus connect from Bangkok to Vientiane at Bangkok Bus station, Mor Chit. Unless you can cross in any int'l check point asking from other travellers by the way.
Then, from Laos heading to Hanoi Vietnam. You can ask bus service from GH or hotel you stay.
Then from Hanoi heading to Southern part end at Hochiminh city. From HCMC there is a bus run between HCMC to Phnom Pehn and then to Siemriep for Angkor Wat (Must visit).
From Siemriep there are buses run to Bangkok or Pattaya if you need spend a time in Eastern part of Thailand.
Anyway, 15 days free visa will be issued instead of 30 days in case land border crossing to Thailand.
Lastly catch a flight to your home or any place you need to go.
Cambodia & Laos will sell you a visa on arrival. VN has a VOA system in place for those that fly into VN. If you are going to cross into VN at a land crossing, you will need to arrange your VN visa beforehand. Buy it in Phnom Penh or Vientiane before heading for VN. Good luck.
Great, thanks for the advice guys
