Ok...let's get this out of the way right from the start. I am seeking a female travel companion because it makes a photographers job a lot easier when traveling with a woman. A single male traveling alone will find photographing people more difficult and sometimes dangerous. However, with a woman companion, everyone is more at ease. This is especially true when photographing women and children.
