Hi - Sorry, we were there in December 2012, not Sept/Oct. We went to Bako and Mulu National Parks, climbed Mt Kinabalu, saw the orang utans in Sepilok and then went to the Kinabatangan River before heading up to Kudat for a bit of beach at the tip of Borneo. It rained one day in Bako and on the climb up,Mt Kinabalu. It would help to go on the climb when it's not raining - of about 150 who set out from Laban Rata on the morning we did it, most turned back, Probably about 30-40 finished the whole climb and the sunrise at the top was non-existent. But it was still a great feeling to have managed the climb.
It you get a chance, Bako, Mulu and the Kinabatangan are certainly worth at least two or three days each. We loved all these places and enjoyed taking photos of all the wildlife - absolutely superb.
Enjoy Borneo!
