not u as well ... i just posted on the am i to old at 30 now your only 26 ... so at 46 i gess im on the wrong web page , iv just started to make plans and am lookin at goin for 6-12 months . now im starting to worry im goin to look like some spooky old git ...
Never been to Oz or used Ultimate Oz package but saw "am I too old at 27" and had to respond to say no

Never too old for travel—even for a first time!
The UltimateOz/OzIntro package lot are aimed at travellers on a WHV (18-30) so technically you're also not too old for that. Other than small day trips and tours, a lot of the services they provide are things you can do yourself for free (Tax File Number, bank account, SIM card, etc).
As for meeting people, that is the very nature of staying in hostels and backpacking. You will meet people as you go and you can socialise or go solo as much as you want. Hostels regularly hold social events to allow guests to meet other backpackers.
I would also recommend that you embrace travelling without a group. IMO it is a better experience and helps to discover unexpected places.
