I'm not certain if this still holds true (I'm sure one of the admins will correct me if I'm wrong), but it used to be that the trips were sorted by date; that is, it looked at the earliest and latest date associated with any stop in a specific trip, and ordered by that. It looks like you're not using dates on your trip stops at all, so then it probably falls back to trip creation order. But if you give dates to your trip stops, then that should be an easy fix.
