Hey all, I plan to backpack across Australia for the whole month of Nov-Dec 2013. I'm a female solo traveler (first time). I'm nervous but really excited for this trip, it has been my dream to solo circumnavigate. Looking for adventurous, life-changing experience and to meet people.

I'm also planning to travel alone in October time but I'm planning on travelling along the East Coast Melbourne - Sydney - Brisbane - Gold Coast/Sunshine Coast - Whitsunday Island - Cairns.
I was thinking of getting a campervan though as that is meant to be the best way to see everything, either that or greyhound bus?

Mollie it sounds like me and you have pretty similar plans, I'm also heading out in October and was planning on travelling along the East Coast! I'm debating whether to get a camper van or to do a hop on hop of type bus, have heard good things about both!

So good to hear from you both. I'm not sure about Campervan but the rental ain't cheap. I don't mind sharing the cost though.
This is my planned schedule:
30/10- 4/11 Sydney (6 days as I've been there last year)
4/11-14/11 Brisbane-Cairns (10 days so I can travel from Brissy up to Cairns)
14/11-19/11 Adelaide (6 days, enough?)
19/11-30/11 Melbourne-Tasmania
Dec - Perth and New Zealand (maybe)
But I have to leave for Chiang Mai Marathon on Dec 22 and celebrate my birthday, Christmas and New Year at Thailand.
Would be great to know your plans and your schedule.
Can anyone advice me on getting the domestic flight ticket now is a lot cheaper than later? or should I buy it when I get there? My travel date isn't confirm yet.

I am a lone female travelling from SG too.
I did a month's backpacking in OZ last year already though, so it's not really a virgin trip for me, but hell. If you like, let's meet up! i will be flying in Syd on 2 Dec only though!
Planning on being in sydney october 20th =] never traveled before, mainly going for work but until december i'm thinking of it as a holiday.
as i read some of you have done this kinda thing all ready would be cool to hear anything you have to say about it or any ideas about how to go about it!
