Ok, I found the problem. I'll have to get some feedback on how to fix this exactly because it's down to the database structure and for some reason it's not allowing what worked before on the new database server. I'll post here when it's resolved.

Yeah, I need an answer from our database specialist. It might require a change to the way the table is set up and I've got to take all precautions doing that. Sorry about that. Kind of strange that this database upgrade caused that to stop working, but it's just one of those unpredictable things.

Ah, I have an answer here.. this is me dragging my feet.
Or rather -- it's not really an answer, but further questions since it's not really a known problem. Could be a MySQL bug.
