I'm hoping to travel to Aus in January 2014 (if everything goes to plan!). I'm planning on starting in Perth, but that may change if I decide to book a package, as they seem to all be in Sydney. I then plan on meeting friends and hopefully getting a campervan with one, and traveling Aus at our own speed and budget! I'm really exited and was hoping to get a head start on making friends through forums like these! So if anyone is planning on going at the same time please reply and help advise me! X
Hi Megan, it sounds like you have a rough idea of what you'd like to do which is good! I land in Cairns at the end of September and am planning on buying a campervan, make my way down the east coast, Sydney for NYE, Melbourne, Adelaide, Ayers Rock, Darwin then onto Perth,

Not as much as you by the sounds of it! Are you going alone? The main reason I'm starting in Perth is because I'm desperate for a decent beach!!! Perth's look beautiful! I'm jealous you are in Sydney for nye! That was my original plan! X
Yes going alone unless some one else joins me, haha, I was going to start in Perth but id like to finish in Perth and spend a year there for work,

How long are you planning on travelling? I was planning on going for a year or 2! But most seem to be going for months?! I haven't sorted it yet because I'm tied down slightly ATM so want to sort that before!!! Have you? I think I'm gonna book it through sta travel, they sort it all for you! Katy, it seems so much cheaper and convenient than hostels! I'm planning in working, but not constantly just here and there and then3 months farm work! What about you??? How comes Melbourne? X
Hey Megan - I'm landing in January too but I'm not sure where to fly to (haven't booked it yet). I've got a WHV so planning on staying in Oz for a year then doing New Zealand, Vanuatu and if I have any money left over then East Asia! Campervan sounds immense, plus you get to see all the places on the way that you'd miss with a train/coach/plane. I arrive in Sydney first week in January. Looking to travel up the East Coast for the first few weeks then head to Perth as I have a job in Esperance starting end of January.
