New passport same name, What info will be revealed about me?

I'd like to know if I visit a country I once visited with a new passport, will this passport be in anyway linked to an older passport? The passport number is different but the name is the same. It has been several years since visiting said country.

Your cryptic question is impossible to answer when you give zero details whatsoever about anything.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Terry

Terry has a point.

What nationality passport do you have?
What's the country being visited?
What details are you concerned about being spotted?

There's nothing to identify you on here so come clean with the story and you could get some useful advice.

Thanks for any help (be nice)

It used to be said that people who had an Israel stamp in their passport would not be allowed into some Arab countries. It was also said that since a renewed passport did not have any stamps, that it would be ok to go to an Arab country with that passport. So - to answer your question - in my opinion, I doubt an old passport is linked to a new passport.

BUT - I have no idea how you can be absolutely sure of that without trying to enter a country yourself.

Steve

Steve, you can't compare the sharing of information between Israel and many Arab countries (most of whom hate each others guts) to the sharing of information between many other countries. The US and Canada for example share everything, right down to parking tickets in some cases.

The OPer's question is nonsensical when there's zero details offered regarding his/her specific situation.

Terry

Terry,

I gave my opinion as an answer what I see as the the posters question 'will this passport be in anyway linked to an older passport?'

You think that question is nonsense & that my response is also - you are welcome to your opinion, although why you have to be so insulting when giving it is beyond me.

Steve

I did not mean to be insulting whatsoever Steve and I sincerely apologize if my reply sounded that way. I'm sorry.

My only point was that basing your opinion on Israel and many Arab countries not sharing Passport info can not in any way be used as a general rule for the rest of the world.

Cheers,
Terry

Ok well here's some of my information: I'm a UK passport holder going to revisit S. Korea. They have a limitation on foreigners opening bank accounts and I may have opened too many and done something not 100% legal.

South Korea has state-of-the-art Immigration control. I would bet that the chances of your name raising a red flag is very, very high. The computer never forgets and as soon as your name sends off a warning bell then it's an easy matter for them to compare the old passport with the new passport and reach the conclusion that you're the same person.

There's lots of countries that this would be worth risking but in my opinion South Korea isn't one of them. They're very good at sniffing out simple deceptions like this.

Cheers,
Terry

So do you think it's possible the banks are sharing information with immigration?
