Do you mean Osaka Kansai or Osaka Airport? I suspect you mean the former. There isn't much close-by, but it would pay to check the flight Osaka to Tokyo (again, is that Narita or Haneda?). It is possible the Osaka-Tokyo leg is a domestic flight and you will clear immigration at Osaka. However, if the sector is listed as international then you would be a bit stuck because by the time you exit and then re-process through security you would only have a very brief time to go anywhere.
If you add your flight numbers you might get a better answer.
This is normally not a big problem, you just need to make sure you have enough time to do what you want to do and get back In Singapore they used to have the option to do a really cheap bus tour from the airport around the city. It was a 3 hour affair I believe.
The airport express train in HK is excellent (you can actually check in, including your luggage, at the train station for some airlines so you should have more than enough time to get into the city and look around. If you've checked your bag all the way through to home, you won't be able to pick it up, but you can just leave the airport with your carry on; no problem at all! I'd also try and check myself on all the way through in NZ already, which means you'll already have your boarding pass, giving you a little extra slack in the schedule. Then when you get back to the airport, you just go through security check like always and you're good to go
