Central America alone?

Hey everyone,
I have made the executive decision that I will be travelling around Central America by myself.
I am a 22 year old male from Perth, Australia and I plan on going mid next year for approximately six months.
I have brief travel experience (only been to Indonesia and Thailand) and am a bit apprehensive, I also do not know anything about travelling for long periods of time.

My common entry point to CA has been Cancun, which has constant air traffic from everywhere. Then into Belize, from there it is a n easy jaunt into Guat. I did three months for three thousand dollars or so and I don't recall being terribly frugal. I have had exactly one dicey moment in CA , and that was with an expat. That said, you msg t always be on your guard and don't get involved in illegal activity.... there is something called the gringo trail which is well traveled down the west coast of CA. That's a good starting point.

The gringo trail? Regular route going north --> South?

Where did you fly to Cancun from? Australia? I would just rather spend $800 and fly to LA rather than $1,400 to fly to CA
