Travelling USA - Conviction

uglow89 has indicated that this thread is about Visas (USA)

First of all, don't use abbreviations like ABH because no one outside of the UK will understand what you're referring to.

Secondly, no one can answer your question because Actual Bodily Harm covers a fairly wide legal range of seriousness and 7 years is still absolutely not in the clear - it's sitting exactly on the fence as to whether enough time has passed to make him admissible.

Going to an Immigration Lawyer is a waste of money because they will have no additional insight, calling the Embassy is a waste of time - no one there can predict how US CBP (Customs & Border Protection) will react.

If you still want to go on the cruise your only choice is to apply again and see what happens.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Terry

Uglow, Terry really seems to know his onions and once again he's offered good advice on this subject. There is another thread on this forum where you can read other travellers experiences. Can i ask how your partner applied for a visa last time & what happened in his interview (if it got that far). Im in a similar situation myself following a jail sentence for football violence 10 years ago & im always interested in other peoples stories on this matter before i pursue my visa application.
Good Luck with the wedding.

seems strange how Uglow has asked for advice and then dissapeared off the face of the earth!!!

uglow, what have you decided to do about the wedding?

Nice discussion but not interested for the giving opinion for the marry...

I'm not sure about the US, but here in Canada you can apply for a pardon and have it all cleared from your record. I know it does cost about $500 here in Canada to apply for the pardon.
