The only area I have been to near Swansea is Gower. It is a spectacular peninsula and can be reached by bus if you don't drive.

Sorry I'm not from that area, so don't know It that well, but I concur with David, the Gower is fabulous. Try Rhossili or 3 Cliffs Bay

THe Gower Pennisula was the first area in the UK to be adopted by the National TRust, , in other words it is the most beautiful coastine, or even landscape in Britain. Go to Three Cliffs Bay, to Rhossilli, to Mumbles ( a village) to Oxwich. And to North Gower, Woebly Castle (sorry wrong spelling) But you may need a waterproof.
