Thailand alone December 26 - February 2

Heyy
I'm backpacking in Thailand on the above dates alone and was wondering if anyone else is there at the same time?
I haven't really got a specific itinerary, but I'll be flying to Bangkok and I'll probably spend NYE there too, either that or full moon.
After that I'm just gonna go with the flow!
This is the first time I've ever done anything like this and on my own too so it would be cool to go for a beer or something with someone if anyone is there at the same time!
Obviously Bangkok will be busy at the time I'm going so I'll pre book the accommodation for the first few nights
Any suggestions where to stay? Preferably somewhere that's easy to meet people :D
Thanks! Jack

Hiya, i will most likley be there the same time as you, im going a little earlier (flying into bangkok) but heading straight to Koh Tao or Koh Phanang. Definitly interested in the full moon parties too but am a bit nervous of being on my own. I'm trying to find as many people who will be there the same time!

Awesome! Aren't you spending any time in Bangkok though?
Haha yeah I know what you mean, I've been told 'just go you'll meet people in minutes!' but it's still nice having people guaranteed there!
You got fb or anything?

Thailand is a great vacation spot for the best adventurous holidays indeed. So many islands and beaches, with variety of water sports to indulge in, the greatest nighlife, especially in Phuket. massage houses if that particularly intersts you as Thailand is quite popular for them

I know, can't wait! Less than 4 months away now and counting ha
I wasn't aware nightlife was good in Phuket though
I wanna do a bit of everything, beaches, city, nightlife, water activities, maybe a bit of trekking too
I'll just have to see when I get there and go with the flow

I dont know about trekking, havent personally done that, but Yes Phuket nightlife is the best in Thailand undoubtedly. You could also go boating in Thailand, i did bungee jumping, parasailing, kayaking, and scuba diving, toured the different islands, had an amazing time! and the best part, i didnt book myself up with any tour guide, that gave me more freedom to explore on my own the places that interest me! I
d suggest you do that too, just google about things to do and places to visit and off you go

You will be in Thailand when you have the most tourists at one time. Also when hotels are highest priced, especially close to the holidays.

For hotel advice mention a price range. If you are a student or very young maybe choose a hotel in the Khao San Road (KSR) area where lots of kids stay. A little older and want to check out some adult nightlife maybe choose the Sukhumvit Road, Nana area. In both the Nana area and the KSR area you will find hotels in all price ranges. In the Nana area you will also have access to the Skytrain. The Skytrain is an overhead rail service that connects with the Airport Rail Link and the Subway. No rail service in the KSR area.

Know how much per night you can afford for a hotel room and ask for hotel advice in that price range. Use a baht figure. You will meet people on tours, in bars, even in McDonalds, on bus rides, etc. In Thailand, in major cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and nearby Pattaya, you can sign up for tours through local travel agencies!

Since your time in Thailand will exceed the free 30 day visa exemption stamp that many tourists get at the airport you may need a Tourist Visa that you pay for! If you have a one way ticket and without a visa you may have a problem with your airline when you leave your country.

That sounds great I'll definitely look into doing those type of things! Thanks!
