I was going to say 'that's ok', but then I remembered the transport costs. I imagine a Greyhound pass would be the cheapest, but even then, I'd think you'd need more like $180.-$200. a day. I don't know exactly how many hostels there are in this county, but I do know that there are far far less than the number in Europe.
Maybe a month would be more reasonable? Summer is an expensive time to travel anywhere. I don't think you could possibly afford air travel, and rail is so slow that you'd never get anywhere!
Do you know about Green Tortoise Tours (bus) - just for youth like you.
