moderation blog comment

Hi all,

The comment moderation has nothing to do with your blog being password protected. The moderation is for comments made by non-members. This is to protect your blog from being spammed when you open your blog to all to comment. Perhaps the moderation can be excluded when the blog is password protected, since one has to have your password before one could even comment. However, there's a concern on insecure passwords being used which could be targeted by spammers. Unlikely, but not impossible. Will need feedback from the admins on this one, though.

As Hien mentions, it's an anti-spam measure, actually put in place before the password protecting I believe. It can be a bit of a pain originally, but you should only ever have to approve a commenter's comments once. The next time that same person comments their comment will be allowed through. So it's particularly annoying in the beginning, but should mean much less work over time. The other alternative is that the commenter signs up to comment, in which case you don't have to pre-approve those comments.

Thank you for your fast reply! I'm sure most comments will come from my closest family and friends and they will probably comment on one of the first posts, so I should receive way less emails once I've been blogging for a while. I do get the anti-spam idea, and like it :-), now that I know why the annoyance is already reduced.
