Hi guys,
Hi Ally, have you checked out the here on Travellerspoint (it's a combination of all the hostelworld and hostelbookers hostels)? Especially the Quick Compare and Map View methods of searching are pretty neat! For example I chose what is important to me (Free Wifi/Free Breakfast/24 hour check in/kitchen/bar and linen included) and it kicks back just one property: (also has dorm beds and is a pretty good location).
Hope it helps! Melbourne is a great city!!
Hi Sam,
Thanks! That's definitely helpful. But it doesn't give me a clear indication about the reputations of the hostels, for instance, which is just a party dorm, or only for long-term stayers.
Really appreciate the reply though!
cheers,
ally

Hey Ally,
I get into Melbourne on the 10th December for a few nights im staying at Base St Kilda. But i think that is a bit of a party place im afraid. Highly recommended from quite a few people though..
Izaac
Hi Izaac,
i should be flying in on the 23 Dec, or after 25th Dec. So please keep me informed on how's Base St Kilda like!
thanks,
ally
I stayed in Base St Kilda a few years ago and it's pretty lively as there's a bar on site. I'm not a party person but I still enjoyed my stay there. I also stayed in Toad Hall which is more central and less of a party place. I've heard good things about but haven't stayed there.
Hi bex76,
Thanks! I will check out Toad Hall for sure!
All I will say is don't stay at Coffee Palace in St Kilda, was without a doubt the worst hostel I stayed at in 18 months of travelling!
