has anyone had the working holiday visa for nz and ending up staying longer than the year? i dont just want to be there for a year. help. thanks
I am getting mine in December before I head off for about a year.
The visas last for I think it is 23 months but only allows 12 months of that time working. So plenty of time for travel
Yes, when mine ran out after a year I stayed on for another few months by getting a work permit (my employer had to fill in some paperwork) and after that I got permanent residency and ended up living there for 5 years altogether. If you have a job offer in a skill that's a shortage it's normally fairly straightforward to apply for residency, if you do want to stay on longer-term. Or do what I did - meet a Kiwi and get your residency as a partner of a NZ citizen.
