From this , a citizen of Great Britain (which I assume you are in Scotland, as you guys haven't become independent yet...), you don't need a visa, you need to fill out a .
Fill it out, tell the truth and see what happens, I doubt (again, my opinion) that for a small conviction (misdemeanor vs felony) that the would deny you spending your money in the US.
