I am going to Australia in December. Starting in Perth for Xmas, heading to Sydney for NYE and then hoping to hit the road and travel about. I would love to meet some one or even get a group together of like minded people that also are in a similar situation. I am travelling solo at the moment, have my 1st year working visa and hope to travel about for the first few months whilst ideally picking up some work along the way. The long term goal is to do my regional work and get my second year visa. I am not on a gap year. I left my career in london behind to travel Africa and Asia and now I am hoping to relocate long term in Australia. I am very friendly and sociable and would like to meet people that are easy to get along with and have an interest in exploring Australia. I arrive to Perth. Dec 18th, Sydney Dec 28th and will take it from there

I've given up my job for this too (well last day is tomorrow). I should be in Australia in December, well I've booked a hostel from the 23rd December for xmas and nye, but I'm going to SEA first, I leave England on the 13th Oct. I haven't really got any concrete plans on what to do after nye, all depends on when I arrive in Australia.
I am glad I'm not the only one that's given up a job for Australia!
Hey, ah the dreaded quitting of the job! Ha ha. I quit working 16 months ago and have been travelling Asia and Africa since, so working is a distant memory. Where is SE Asia are you planning to go to? Maybe I could recommend some places. I'm staying with friends in Perth at Xmas and then on a friends floor in Sydney for NYE but then I'll be in hostels. When you say you have booked somewhere to stay, do you mean in Sydney?

Im at base in Sydney for NYE before making my way up the East coast. Theres a group of us who met on here all at Base, try and get yourselves in there, should be a good crack!
