thailand 28th nov

hi all im travelling to thailand alone on the above date ive never been thailand before so i was thinking do a week or so in bangkok to get some more knowledge of the country and meet a few people and then go off and travel the islands..what do ppl recommend i do?? im quite into adventorous kinda things not one for sun bathing all day!! havent really got much of a plan yet so any ideas will help me !! thanks

There are a lot of things to do, I would recommend Klong Tour it is a boat trip that allows you to see how locals live, if that might interest you. Market experience in Chinatown Market is also great and not to mention a possibility for cocktail on rooftop with a perfect view. Sathon - Silom - Siam - Riverside.

How long will you be in Thailand? Over 30 days??? You can not show up and stay as long as you want. So you need an end date! If your total time in Thailand is short maybe don't stay so long in Bangkok. In any event before your fly home again from Bangkok spend a couple days back in the city for shopping, etc. Chiang Mai might be interesting too since you don't plan on sunbathing all day long. Bangkok is cheaper than many beach areas in Thailand. Excellent city transportation by rail, bus and taxi.

Thailand is an easy country to visit. November 28 will be high season prices in some places or going into that price range. Transportation is pretty good. But you will be in Thailand during the time when most tourists show up.

Flying in long distance have a hotel to go to for the first night. You can ask for hotel suggestions for various cities in Thailand but also include a price range. You can check out a travel guide or two and see what interests you in Thailand.

Even a simple Google search will give you quick info for the "how to get from here to there" type questions. In Thailand you can sign on to tours through local travel agencies. Find one near your hotel and see what they have available. You meet other people on tours, pubs, bars, on transportation, etc. You can still have a nice time even if you do many things alone!

My preference for Bangkok is a hotel not far from the Skytrain route. But some younger tourists head for the Khao San Road area.

Have you done any research on how to handle your money while overseas? Probably not too good to wander around carrying tens of thousands of dollars. Have you figured out a budget on how much money you need per day to see you through to the end of your vacation? (You getter rate of exchange when you change most Western currencies in Thailand!)

There is some good information on this forum covering many things like hotels, currency, scams, etc. Look some over. Does 25 m mean male, 25 years old?

Good luck.
