hi all,
so ive read on travellerspoint and other travel guides that Myanmar is really rainy in july-august. i've been to places in south east asia in rainy seasons and it didn't bother me too much (still had loads of sunny days etc). Has anyone travelled myanmar during july/august and does the weather really disturb your travels? any other tips on travel in myanmar also welcome:D
The problem you're likely to have during very wet weather in Myanmar is getting around.
The roads are mainly dust, even the main roads between towns. And when dust gets wet it turns to mud very quickly.
Me and the missus hired a taxi/driver/guide for 2 weeks.
We started off in Yangon. Then the Temples of Bagan, Mandalay, Pwin oo Lyin, Kalaw, Inle Lake, and back to Yangon.
Long days on the road, but nonetheless a fascinating and memorable experience.
We went in late February and it was dry and v.hot all the time.
One downside of visiting in February/March is the farmers burn the fields, and so there's a continuous blu/grey smog which obscures most of the decent views.
