grand canyon trip

Hi
Im planning a trip from San Diego to San Francisco via The Grand Canyon.
It is as follows
Fly into San Diego
to Sedona
to Grand Canyon
to Williams
to Las Vegas
to Los Angeles
to Santa Barbara
to San Luis Obispo
to Monterey
to San Francisco

I could stay more that 3 days in most every place you mentioned. It all depends on what you plan to do and want to see.

But in my opinion with that "schedule" for 15 days, the 2 days in SD and 3 in SF should suffice if that is really what you want to experience. Given the drive times and possible look-see activities, you may be selling some of those other stops short (like Sedona, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Monterey). But that is up to you of course.

We did a road trip in California (see "California Road Trip") which started and ended in San Francisco.

The 1st 2 days after arriving we used the open topped hop-on-off bus which gave us a good idea of the lay of the land. The 3rd day we took the car to a couple of places and then drove to the Napa Valley.

Three days is enough if you just want to see the sights but longer is needed if you want to relax and spend some time at them. Oh there is an evening trip to Alcatraz which is worth doing when time is short, though we were hoping to have a meal at a restaurant near our motel but it closed at 9 which some do (in March).

Can I suggest driving through Death Valley from Las Vegas to Los Angeles? But the traffic is horrendous in LA which may limit your time.

Have a great and safe trip
