420 Cayo Coco

gogofish33 has indicated that this thread is about Cuba

I have no idea what a 420 situation even is?!

I'm sure that gogofish33 is referring to marijuana. As 420 refers to consumption of cannabis and, by extension, a way to identify oneself with cannabis subculture. The date April 20 is sometimes referred to as "Weed Day" or "Pot Day".

As well, most schools let out the kids at 4:20 pm, just in time for a quick smoke.

Gogofish33, you take your chances wherever you go, though I'm sure a few spliffs can be found. I imagine the Cuban police take a dim view of traveling stoners and would happily lock you up for a single joint. So, if you're determined, be careful, be attentive to your surroundings....check the way of things by observation, and try not to buy from an undercover.

You don't mention what country you're coming from. If it's the USA, you'd better be especially careful.

beerman, thanks for your reply

I'm Canadian. The reason I am asking is that I am on a prescription that causes severe nausea and I find this helps. I don't have a scrip for cannabis so the amount would be small and for my own use. Has anyone heard horror stories around this from people traveling to Cuba?

I agree with Beerman... It's always obtainable. But, Cuba is pretty much the wrong country to be looking for a 420 break. Other Caribbean countries/islands - if caught - will just send you home (on your own dime) or let you sit until someone bails you out. Cuba has a habit of locking the gate, throwing away the key and forgetting about you.

Keep in mind, by asking this question on a public website, you are now traceable.

With that said, if you still choose to take the risk, heed Beerman's advice.

Depending on the medication you are taking, I would consider finding an alternative, such as Dramamine/Gravol for the nausea. That may not be an option if there are drug contradictions between your meds and Dramamine. (Gravol is just the Canadian/European version of the same drug.) Though it is labeled for 'motion sickness', it works for most causes of nausea.

I'm betting there are a few members on this site who have had luck in procuring what they wanted. Though, I doubt they will openly admit to it on this forum. If you are serious about this, you may receive a PM or two - which is the better route for exchanging information such as this. Cuba likes Canadians but not enough to overlook even a small pot purchase.
