In other words, you want us to act as your TA? Just start searching and reading the guidebooks, You'll never find 2-3 month road trips offered because Americans fly mostly, take 1 or 2 week vacations, and generally do not cover the entire country in one trip. If you want cheap rooms, ask for a motel instead of a hotel in your search. TP has hotel listings by the way!
I've had at least 9 TP members come through Vegas looking for help buying a vehicle to tour the US. My advice is to rent something if you are on the road for 2 months or less. It only makes sense to buy a vehicle if you are here more than 2 months. Then you might consider buying a car/van and sell it when finished with your tour. Two TP members returned to Vegas and sold their vans for almost what they paid for it. One member wrecked his van and walked away from it. The others never returned or told me what happened after they left LV.
