I am flying into Cairns on the 15th, for 2 months, also on my own. I'm travelling down the east coast probably hitting all the hot spots. I'm also a bit nervous but there are so many people in the same situation! I've only booked up my first 3 nights in a hostel in cairns.

3 months is a long time to do just the east coast, you could probably go a bit further if you want to. Don't worry about finding friends, there's people doing the same thing everywhere!

I fly into Sydney on April 14th and am excited but freaked out too. Also haven't booked any hostels yet and don't have solid plans as far as sightseeing and things. Planning to stay up to two months maybe and then head over to New Zealand. If you want to meet up, let me know.

thanks evryone i guess im just worrying as ive never done anything like this before...but im sure all will be fab! and ill certainly look into covering other areas if 3 months will be plenty of time ...i would like to do melbourne! guess ill see what it brings! xxx
There is a big group of us heading out to Sydney on the 7th April and will be doing stuff around Sydney the week 11th - 16th if you find yourself at a lose end for the first few days.

i still havent booked hostel tho do you have any suggestions? i was thinking the wake up...but few ppl said with it been big its harder to fit in? =/ i also thought about YHA ones to start but then some ppl suggested its more of a flashpackers and older traveller (which that doesnt bother me so long as there not like mum and dad ppl) i do want to do lots and see lots so duno which is best! hmmm

My Little brother has to taken the plunge and has today got his visa and his flights booked and arrives in Sydney april 25th, hes travelling for 3 months to and has never done anything like this before.
I did it a few years back so im giving him as much advice as possible and iv always been a member on here so i thought id get him in touch with people in the same boat, can i put you in touch with him? maybe u message me ure email or facebook or something? cheers
