Hi,
I can suggest the North, York and Northumberland.
York and then up to Durham and Darlington maybe? Around the York moors.
With just 5-6 days, I'd personally stay within a few hours drive from London. Maybe head west for a couple of hours to Bath? A beautiful place in itself, and maybe a good base to explore from - unless you prefer to just take your chances and see where you end up each evening. Hope for good weather but take a brolly. Should be ok though.
Nearly forgot about Kent - also known as the 'Garden of England'. Good luck!
Go to Ross-on-Wye! Its in the South Herefordshire countryside. I have some family members that live out there in a rectory and its one of my favorite places to go when I fly to England to visit family. It so beautiful with tons of greenery and its just relaxing and peaceful. I went horseback riding out there quite a few years ago and they've got a cathedral and a cute little town to go walk through
If heading for Bath take a trip to the South Coast or as it's known the "Jurassic Coast" & Stonehenge first. All 3 places are world heritage sites
