hey im travelling to australia after xmas i want to spend new years in sydney and im goin alone, it does seem scary and ive never been travelling like this before. i dont just want to do australia though i want to go to newzealand and thailand aswel

My plan is to spend all my time in Australia, and when im ready il go to New Zealand which will be around April time! Iv never done anything like this before either but i know it will be an amazing experience. Spending Xmas and New Year without any one i know, is worrying, so would be good to meet up!

Hi i'm travelling alone, i'm leaving London on 11th November and spending a month in new zealand, then fly over to Melbourne.
I've already booked my hostel for the 21st Dec till 2nd jan in Sydney at the Wake up hostel, which is ment to be a really good place to stay, close to all the attractions.
As things get booked up so quickly i thought best sort that out now, so i don't have to worry when i'm there.
After new yr, i'm hoping on the Oz experience and travelling up north, hoping to maybe find fruit picking work, or just some travelling.
i'm very nervous about going alone, but everyone says once your out there u'll meet so many ppl, and this website has been great at finding out what other ppl are up to on there travel plans, etc.
i dont really fancy spending new year alone either lol, i havent looked into finding places to stay yet i havent got a clue was gonna just go with the flow really but think i may have to look into it now, where did u find out about good places to stay? x
I haven't booked any other accommodation but for Sydney over new yrs they mention to book other wise u'll find yourself paying a fortune!
I think I booked 11nights and it came to £313 which is still quite expensive but just glad that's out of the way.
You should have a look on hostelworld.com it's abit cheaper then booking with STA, although I did book with STA and they matched the price from this other website!

thats not so bad i suppose its just more expensive coz its new years most prob, ill try and book that hostel in sydney then b nice 2 meet up its horrible when u dont know people lol, i think i want 2 work and travel try and experience a bit of everything, what u planning on doing? x
Wake up hostel in Sydney is the hostel iv been told by alot of people to book in to for xmas and new year! Which is what im planning on doing! Then after New Year my plan is also to book on one of the buses to work my way up the East coast whilst trying to find some work!
Suzy, have you booked into the dorms at Wake up? What type of dorm did you book into? Bit confused as to what is the best to do! Going to look into booking Wake up over the next few days.
Also have you paid for your Oz experience ticket? How much did that cost?

Hi lisa, I just went for the 6dorm mixed. I thought the 8 or 10 dorm would just be to messy and no sleep kind of thing!
I booked over Xmas and new ur so at least that's all sorted.
I haven't booked my OZ experience yet but think it works out about £360, if you book through STA it's a little bit cheaper.
I do want to do some fruit picking work so just going to see what work they have in the north on the way up
To cairns, but won't really know untill I'm there.
Or I may retune down or either sydney or melbourne to

Thats what i was thinkin of booking but were sure weather to do mixed or not! Will get that booked within the next week or so!
£360 for the OX Experience is definately better that what i have found! Is that for the route between Cairns and Sydney?
I applied for my visa last night, the ball in rolling now! So exciting!
Where are you starting when you get to Australia?
Im up for doing any work out there to be honest! Fruit picking will be something totally different so should be fun!
I havent really made any plans as to where im going to be travelling, as everyone has said to me all my plans will be ditched when i get there because of the different people you meet. Hopefully! My only plan is to stay in Sydney for Xmas and New Year and work my way up the East coast, then where ever really!
