two days in ho chi minh city and i can't make up my mind if cu chi tunnels or mekong delta on the 2nd day. since i'll be having the city tour on the first day...help pls.

I voted for the delta tour last time we chatted. I have been on both and there is just more to see on a delta tour IMO. You are on a boat cruising the Mekong, then to a smaller boat to navigate the tributaries. Wildlife, vegetation, a river versus crawling around in a tunnel. No contest IMO.
I thought the Cu Chi tunnels were fascinating and definitely worth a trip. I didn't go to the delta so I can't compare but a friend did a delta trip and was disappointed, which was partly why I didn't bother with it.

yeah, but i'd like to see how Vietnam was during the war...you see, when they speak about Vietnam all i can think of is all about the war..I guess i want to dig deeper about the country's history...
and i like to see mekong delta to know their culture as well..

Difficult choice. The day trip to the Delta doesn,t really get you much into the culture, its more a tourist trip of seen it, been there, done that.
If its a taste of the history of the war you want then the tunnels and a trip to the war museum in HCMC will be of more value.

I visited both the tunnels and the delta and they are both very nice!
But, ... our trip to the delta was a four days trip and in fact it was a tour through the delta with cycling (mountainbike), trips on boats, visit to small islands, visit to the floating marktet etc...... so the delta is nice and we have seen how people really live there, but I think you need more than 1 day to have such an experience. The one day trip to the delta is more 'the tourist version of the delta' and can indeed be dissapointing for some people.
So, if you only have one day, I would suggest it is better to visit the tunnels! Certainly if you are interested in the war history of Vietnam.
I know it is difficult to choose, but hey, you can always go back to Vietnam to see more of it!

That sounds better, thanks for the advice...you're right i can go back to Vietnam anyway, but i can only travel once a year and leave from work for only a short span of time..so it will be hard to travel back to Vietnam that's why i want to see the places that i shouldn't miss.
But still, wherever it is, it will be a great trip.
