There are buses from Cuzco to Puno and then on to LaPaz. Take one of the better first class buses if you can get it. More expensive, but more reliable. I've never been to Sao Paulo from LaPaz so can't advise with this. I went into Argentina from southern Bolivia. Good luck. Jonshapiro
You can go direct from Cuzco to La Paz easily enough. Definitely take a good bus for this journey - I can't think of one in particular off the top of my head, but I've done the journey so know it's possible.
La Paz to Sao Paulo... that could be tricky. I have gone in all directions from Bolivia, except to Brazil! I've gone from Rio to Buenos Aires direct and believe that are buses between most capital cities in South America, but you may have to go via Rio.
The thing I would ask is whether this is something you absolutely have to do. Spending anything over 10 hours on a bus in South America is painful - and not because the buses are uncomfortable. Anything can happen to delay the journey further, from landslides to road blocks and being stuck on a bus is just about the least amount of fun someone could have in South America. I've known people take 8 days rather than 5 getting between cities. Is there any way you can spend a bit more time travelling between La Paz and Sao Paulo? See some of the amazing places on the way? I know that's what I would rather be doing...

uhm. you should fly. being that s.america is dirty cheap, and if you get on the wrong bus you could be kidnapped. Id fly being that it is the safest way.
I've spent years in South America - both working & travelling and in my view being kidnapped from a bus is highly unlikely unless you are some kind of high profile, unpopular political figure out there, which I'm assuming you're not. And that's unlikely even in Colombia. What is more likely is that you might get some personal belongings stolen, but if you keep an eye on your bags when people get on & off the bus & generally remain sensible & vigilant you should be okay.
Flying is definitely the way forward given the distance involved, but I disagree with Laurenlolz - it's not 'dirty' cheap (or even just cheap) when you're crossing country borders and not many travellers can afford to do this unfortunately.
I have just remembered that there was a train journey between Cusco & Puno, which might be worth doing as something a bit different. Judging by the Peru Rail website this still exists, but I have no idea what the cost would be. Probably a little more expensive than the bus I imagine, but not a bad way to travel for the day.

La Paz, Bolivia to Sao Paulo, Brazil is $50?? Last time I was in South America internal flights from Lima to Cusco were closer to $100. Show me where this flight costs that little and I'll back down.

Hi I want to travel from Cuzco to La Paz, the from La paz to Sao Paulo.
I've never done this before and I cannot find a lot of information about bus or train rides in the area.
Does anybody know any good train rides or bus rides, at good price and safe that I could take?

Basically the ride from cuzco to la paz is quite easy, there are several companies that may take you from Cuzco to la paz, some may stop for a "bus change" in Puno and some (more expensive) such as "ormeno or litorel" may drive you up directly to la paz, now if you were to get a bus that stops in puno, then be sure to take a bus that goes to "copacabana" in bolivia, this (if you were interested) makes quite a nice place for stopping and if you want to make your trip much more exiting and worth, then catch a boat to the sun island either at 08.00 or 1:30 Pm, the island is just the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy awesome views. Once back in cocacabana, then you can get a "public bus" cozy and safe enough to la paz for only 3 U$, the ride takes about three hours and there is a place after the first hour of your ride in which you have to get off the bus to cross the "ticuina" strait while you ride on a small motor boat, you bus will be mounted on a ferry and then once in the other side, then catch your bus again to continue the ride to la paz, If it stops by the "cementerio" the regular bus stop, be sure not to trust any policeman who ask you for documents or else, there have been cases reported about tourists being robbed this way, (Polce in la paz would never bother you asking you for anything but to help you) if you catch a taxi make sure you write down its licence tag in advance and (if possible) there should be around some police officers from the "tourism police" who should also have this info, la paz is really safe , I am not trying to freak you out but it is always good to be safe and well informed, a taxi to "any" hostel or lodge around downtown la paz should charge Max 2 U$ for you alone sometimes tourists get together and the taxis may charge you 3 U$ for all 6 of you inside the same cab.
Once in la paz, you have plenty of options of things to do and to see, there is just so much fantastic things close and worthy, I don´t know your plans but whatever you do make sure you follow good advices, there are tour companies in la paz,(sagarnaga st.) who you just don´t want to deal with..we got ripped off the first time and then over again, yeah we were dumb enough to get ripped off 4 times by all fifferent tour companies , then we met an excelent guide and organizer who proofed to be reliable and serious, if you need it I may give you his contact info.
From la paz, to sao paolo, there are many bus companie that take you : first to santa Cruz, 15 hours ride aprox. (rate about 20U$) then you must get another bus to "puerto Suarez" about 10 hours and (15 U$) once there that is the "border city" after your migration control you start your adventure in brasil, then get a bus to "Caceres" from where you can surely get a bus to Sao paolo , about 24 hrs.
the flights from la paz to sao paolo range from 550 to 600 U$ if you wish you may go for that ... shorter and nicer, but if by land then the option would just be buses.

I was initially looking at traveling the exact same route until I realised the sheer magnitude of the journey.
I'm now looking at an organised 49 day trip with either dragoman.com or toucantravel.com, UK websites, which provide an overland tour from Lima to Rio, or there are other options also.
It's quite a pricey layout initially but when you look at spreading the costs over 49 days it's not actually that bad, and you've got all accommodation, most food and all transport and guides to and from every sight worth seeing on the route!
Food for thought!

Hey Craig! I see you have already taken a desition, well this overland tours might not give you a great sense of adventure as everything may be organized, however if that is what you want, good for you, I hope you enjoy it at plenty, I have heard "Tucan" make good trips, economically , I am not sure it maybe "that" worth since specially in bolivia lodge , food, services and all is pretty cheap, but then again, if you wish to travel that way, have a great trip!
