Best place for a skydive?

Pretty much what the subject says! Where is the best place to do a skydive in Aus/NZ from your experiences?

Nobody on here has done a skydive in Australia or New Zealand?!

I did one in NZ, it was amazing!!! Queenstown is the place to go for it!!! Truly awesome experience!!!

Whitesandy islands, in Queensland Aus. Cant bit the site of green islands with little fluffy clouds, floating around the sea..

I'm planning to do one in Cairns. I reckon hurtling down looking over the Great Barrier Reef could be rather good fun! Haven't really looked into prices too much, although I'm guessing it'll be one of the more expensive places to do one. Still, once in a lifetime 'n' all.

I went skydiving in Caloundra, Sunshine Coast in OZ. It was the best spot, 14,000 feet with 65 second free fall. Insane! Landed on the beach!

I used to work as a skydiver in Australia.

You'll find a comprehensive list of dropzones at the Australian Parachute Federation's website:

http://www.apf.asn.au/Skydiving-Info/Drop-Zone-List/default.aspx

If time is an issue, book in at a dropzone with a "Turbine" aircraft. They're open every day.
If you're after a half day or day experience, try one with a smaller plane, a Cessna 182 or 206, on a Saturday. Some of the smaller affairs provide a rustic and personal experience.

The sights are stunning wherever you go. 14 000 feet versus 10 000 feet is not particularly significant unless you're already booked in for the Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) course and plan to fly your own parachute.

Definitely worth the risk.

Looking at your itinerary: Hobart has one of the most spectacular skydives, so few people get there though.

+1 NiuMei84, Smitansara, great parts of the world.

You don't say when you are traveling, so you need to look into when you will be in these places and the season. You can jump all year in New Zealand, but it can be bitterly cold at 15,000 ft. True the adrenaline will probably take care of it, but still much nicer experience if its a warm sunny day.

Hiya

I did a skydive in Taupo NZ 3 years ago now and it was fantastic. I jumped from 12,000ft and I think the cost was around £80 or thereabouts if I remember rightly. Prices could be a lot different now. It was more money to jump from 15,000ft but it gave you a longer freefall so now after jumping from 12,000 I'd definitley pay the extra to jump from 15,000!

I'm going back to NZ next year and hoping to do it again in Queenstown as the view over the fiords is supposed to be spectacular.

I know this is a very vague answer to your post but hope it helps some It was definitley the best thing I've ever done. Got some amazing pics with it and a dvd video too just to prove to everyone back home hehe

Sarah

Taupo is still the cheapest place to jump in NZ but I'd say Queenstown or Wanaka would probably be the prettiest.
