Advice: 3 Weeks to travel, where to go?

Hi,

Chris - do you have a preference for weather? Hot vs. cold destinations? That is the holiday season (Christmas & New Year's), are you looking to experience anything in particular related to that or avoid celebrations?

Interested in volunteering at all, or looking to just relax and travel or?

If you can give us a bit more information to work with, I'm sure we'll be able to help a bit more.

I don't have a preference for weather, so can be northern or southern hemisphere.
I would be interested in volunteering, but not a commercialise or oversubscribed environment. Also happy to just travel and relax but somehow do some good along the way.
Apologies for it being so vague, but it is a pretty blank canvas for me at the moment. But really want to make it count.
Will appreciate any sort of ideas/suggestions.
Also thought about sticking to one place and do something like a 'coding/programming bootcamp' to learn a new skill, or even an exercise holiday... but maybe that is a bit extreme. Just thought it will give a bit more info of my train of thoughts.
Thanks!

Oh sorry, also your other question - its not really that important for me to celebrate christmas or new years.

I suggest you Google "meaningful tours" for lots of recommendations, then hop back here for something more specific when you have narrowed your options a bit.

Do you want to travel in Africa or in another in continent? I've visited in Cape Town and from there made trips to Namibia, Windhoek, Swaziland, Krugerpark, Durban, St. Lucia, Mozambique and some other areas.

For example, if you want to visit Europe you can make a trip to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin and many other places.

There are a number of grassroots volunteering options or you could look at a workaway (work in exchange for food & accommodations) in any number of places. It would really help if you could narrow it down a bit - some places you might prefer or not. a specific continent or any direction to help us help you.

I might try searching for things like what has been has suggested, or look at grassroots volunteering - google it, a lot will come up. Another thing you could look at doing is a religious stay? buddhist temple or otherwise.

why dont you try malawi, its a pretty cool place if you give it a chance, theres loads of places you can visit there, cape maclear, mulange mountain, try -snip-,i think they organize hiking tours on the mountain.

Thanks to everyone for comments & advice.
I agree I have to be a bit more specific and narrowed it down after some thinking.

Perhaps a spiritual/meditation type journey. I don't want to go too extreme though. And if possible combined with physical exercise element, such as open water swimming / surfing / yoga. Thought about India/Sri Lanka or perhaps Islands like Thailand/Bali/etc.

So in essence, a trip to a place with natural beauty (mountains/beaches), with plenty of time alone for thinking and contemplating life, but also time in the outdoors for hiking/swimming/etc.

Any advice or suggestions from experience will be appreciated!
