First time solo female traveller - Thailand?

Hi guys,

Hey abi, I wouldn't worry too much about meeting people, I have been told from so many different people that as long as you stay in hostels you will never find yourself alone. I am not the most sociable person in the world, takes me a lil bit to open up so I am hoping this is true. I'm travelling to Thailand on December 30th and will be there for 1 month. I'm going to be staying in the hostels (maybe somewhere a bit more upmarket for New Years lol) and just hoping I meet like minded solo travellers on the way, and if I can meet people from here that'd be even better, knowing that we are all in the same situation! The ambition to travel, with friends who are not in the position to travel with you! It'd be great if we can meet up and enjoy all the things Thailand can offer together. Let me know what your plan is and dates of travel and maybe we can sort something out.

I am getting super excited about this trip, only 7 weeks to go!!

Hey abi, I am in the same boat as yourself too. I'm super social and love partying etc etc...but like many of us here, the timing and financial situation of my friends is not the best which means I too will be travelling solo...first time,,,,ah, scared!! I'm also in the predicament of where to start. Should I just book a flight to bangkok and wing it from there? or should I do some more concrete planning and figure out a route etc etc...? I'm all for staying in hostels and meeting people en route but my only concern is in what state are these hostels? Are they safe? and most importantly, will I be safe travelling on my own?

Hey

I'm winging it: I've booked a flight to Bkk, arriving november 27th, first two nights hotel booked - that its :D
I have also booked a flight to vietnam on the 24th December to show proof of onward travel and i will spend xmas there.
Am travelling solo too

Hey!
I'm currently in Thailand travelling solo female.
Fly into Bangkok and head to Khao San Road. Yeah, its party central but there are so many white people. So many tourists as well as travellers. I have met friends for life around here. There is nothing to worry about. You have those days where maybe you want to discover things on your own anyway, but someone will be by your side most of the time! Only spend a few days in Bangkok and then move down to the island. I know you said that you didn't wanna go to a party island but i'm afraid they are all as party as each other. Despite Koh Phangan being the biggest party of the year and that, they have the nicest beaches I've ever been to; just have to go that little bit further into the island.
Hope this helps!
Have safe travels!

Thanks guys your feedback has been really helpful. I'm thinking of heading to the west islands of krabi etc, some of those are a little less mad! Has anyone else done the Cambodia, Vietnam etc route too? I'm wondering whether in people's opinion, it's better to do Thai Islands first (from
Bangkok) or last (after Cambodia/Vietnam)

Thanks xx
