I recently finished highschool/ secondary school and my parents offered me a chance to travel to the USA for 3 months to visit my uncle who I have not seen in 14 years!! Immediately I said yes to the offer, I was so optimistic coming on this trip but I instantly connected with my uncle and I've done a lot of travelling while here.. I've been to Nevada (Las Vegas) Illinois (Chicago) boderline Mexico and all over California in only 3 months! I am now a different person going home in a week and I feel that its the wrong thing for me, I just want to continue to travel forever. I am only 18 years old and before I left I felt so dependent on my parents and immature with no real passions or hobbies in life, my life was dull and boring. I return in 5 days I fly to Chicago for a connecting flight firstly. I honestly feel my parents will be shocked to see how travelling has changed me. I am happy, mature and wise with a good outlook on life and a thrill for new adventures & culture. Its amazing how hopping on a plane flying to somewhere you have no idea about and throwing yourself into other culture can change you!
I think travelling at 18 is one of the best things you can do. But then, that's just what people who are active on travel forums would say
