So I'm planning on going to Australia next summer (2016) from mid June to August end. All I really want to do is work in a bar and learn to surf. I have no idea where to start with regards to where I want to go or what place would be best so I'm just looking for a few ideas which might help. I'd like to be in a place where there are easy to get to places with beautiful views and stuff but that's all dependant on where I'd like to go. the only real stipulation is that it isn't too cold. I know I'm going in their winter but hopefully there are still a few warm spots!
There's very few places in Australia which get a proper winter. Tasmania and the snowy mountains, and that's about it, though nights in Melbourne can get chilly, too. But even as far south as Sydney, most days that time of year will hit 20 degrees or more, and feel like what you'd describe as "late spring" at worst, and as you go further north from there, warm days will just get more and more consistent, until you hit straight up tropical. I suspect anywhere north of Brisbane would suit you just fine.
